it's high, it's taken, it's all over! Nehra on his first ball swivels his bat for the slower delivery which goes in the air towards deep square leg. Simmons can take the toughest catches, he takes these simple ones too
MI vs CSK, Qualifier 1 at Mumbai, IPL, May 19 2015 - Match Result
11.48pm Look how Mumbai have turned things around, from first four losses to being the first team to make the finals! They started a bit cautiously and put on a competitive score with the help of Simmons and Pollard. Then it was the experience of Malinga and Harbhajan that did the rest. Malinga stifled CSK early and Bhajji removed Raina and Dhoni on consecutive balls which pretty much sealed the win for them.
Dhoni: We were soft on our batting. It's always difficult to chase 180+. We lost momentum in the middle, and not to forget Smith got a horrible decision. We need to lift our game and it would have been better to take a wicket by the sixth over but I was quite happy with our bowling. 180 was close to par on this pitch here but we needed to bat well. We were in a good position after the 10th over. We have always done well with our back to the wall, so that's what we can go to Ranchi with. We haven't played too much there, there will be a mixed support but they would want me to do well.
Rohit Sharma: I couldn't have asked for anything better. Our performance right form the start was good and defending the total was amazing. Not just this match, we have been consistent once we started winning. We know the job is not done as we go to Calcutta. The support staff has held the team together because it's easy to drift away after a few losses. Kolkata will be a different ball game, Mumbai was brilliant and I loved coming and playing here.
Man of the Match Pollard: Happy birthday to my mom today and my friend's mom as well. Being able to hit sixes is always thrust on me and credit goes to the openers for laying the foundation. It was a good total, just above par. But CSK is a dangerous team and we had to play well in all three departments. We'll try to relax for a couple of days and come back right into it.
That's all from us from the qualifier which has taken Mumbai Indians forward. The eliminator will be played tomorrow now, between RCB and Rajasthan Royals so join us for that as well. Until then, good bye and good luck!
Shripad: "It was surprising to see that MSD mentioned the Smith decision! Such decisions should be taken sportingly and they even out in the end!"
he waits for the short of length ball cutting in and defends on the leg side for one
Last wicket left
tries another one and holes out to deep midwicket! Length delivery on the leg stump, Ashwin slogged on the leg side and didn't send it too far as Rayudu ran in from the deep to take it safely
full on the stumps, Ashwin drives it nicely with a straight bat on the off side but doesn't get the distance. Pollard runs to his left from long-off and saves two
full on the off stump, driven late and square to deep point for one
full outswinger outside off, slogged over the non-striker to long-on for one
Malinga for his final over. CSK need 31 from 12
Prem Tripathi: "More than Pollard, Harbhajan changed the fate of this match"
shuffles a lot towards the off side and paddles the full delivery to fine leg for one
full and incoming towards off stump, Ashwin uses the angle and slams it over the long-on fielder for a clean six! Hit hard from the middle of the bat
he pulls the short ball that's angling in, top-edge goes towards square leg but there's nobody there to catch it
back of length ball outside off, nudged wide of backward point for one
Mitch round the wicket
bangs in the slower bouncer as it cuts away from the batsman, who made room. Called wide for the height
Just two more wickets for Mumbai to reach the finals
in the air again, taken very well this time at deep point by Suchith! Mitch gave room, Jadeja swung his arms and played it uppishly as Suchith ran in to get his hands under theball with a forward dive. Excellent catch from him
pitches it up, Jadeja laucnhes it very high and straight down the ground, he didn't get the middle of the bat. But he has enough because Pollard at long-on jumped very high too but the ball went over him
Mitch is back
quicker and fuller outside off, Ashwin uses the pace of the ball and finds the gap between the keeper and short third man by playing it late, for four
Ahsan Butt: ""Chand was sitting next to Tendulkar some time back". Vishal, you mean he was getting some supernatural powers from Master?" No no, completely natural
slow offcutter on the off stump, Jadeja waits and works it to third man once again
tries the yorker on the leg side and it's flicked to deep fine leg for one
too full and Ashwin drives it nicely over mid-off with a straight bat and still head for four. But they need many more of those
back of length ball outside off, Jadeja helps it to third man for one
absolutely full on off stump, tucked to midwicket for one
Malinga comes back when the equation is 59 off 24
on length now and it's driven down the ground to long-on for one
DK: "After loosing first 5 games, MI likely to play in Final. Great turn around"
