An opening batsman hailing from Hyderabad (Sind), Sharjeel Khan made a name for himself with T20 blitzes in Pakistan's domestic competition, and was picked for the ODI and T20I squads against Sri Lanka in the UAE in December 2013.

He made his ODI and T20I debut in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. He scored his maiden T20I fifty in his third match - a 25-ball 50 - and followed it up with a 61 in his first ODI appearance, a knock that earned him praise from then coach Dav Whatmore who marked him out as a promising player.

In his time away from the Pakistan national side, Sharjeel produced strong performances on the domestic circuit and for Pakistan A. He was picked by Islamabad United for the inaugural Pakistan Super League, and struck the first century of the league, a blistering 62-ball 117, in the knock-out stage of the tournament.

His aggressive batting style in the PSL earned him a place in Pakistan's squad for the 2016 Asia Cup and the World T20 2016, where he replaced the injured Babar Azam.
