Pieter Malan is a right-hand opening batsman who made his first-class debut for Northerns in the 2006-07 season after playing for South Africa at the school level. He scored 72 on debut for Northerns against Gauteng and scored his maiden hundred in his third match against Griqualand West. He featured for South Africa at the Under-19 World cup in 2008, but had to wait until January 2020 for full international recognition, with three Test appearances against England. He has since featured for Warwickshire and Middlesex in the County Championship.
