Graeme McCarter

A seam bowler with a vague resemblance to Tim Murtagh, Graeme McCarter was involved in the Gloucestershire set-up for six years until his release after the 2014 season. He had made a reasonable impression for the county without making himself indispensable, and it was felt that he struggled to challenge batsmen on flat pitches.

Born in Londonderry, McCarter won the Young Sports Person Award for Northern Ireland in 2009 and his first-class debut followed for Ireland against Namibia in September 2011. His bowling is highly regarded in Irish conditions, though Peter Chase and Craig Young have leapfrogged him in recent years. He has also represented Ireland at badminton.
