Don Campbell, younger brother to former national captain and current chairman of selectors Alistair, was for a time regarded as one of the better wicketkeepers in Zimbabwe. The presence of Andy Flower and Wayne James meant national honours never came his way, although he did captain the national Under-17 side on several tours. Don made his first-class debut at the age of 18 for Zimbabwe B against the touring county team Kent, and for the next couple of seasons played a lot of first-class cricket, mainly for the Zimbabwe Board XI before they lost their first-class status in the UCBSA competition, and for Mashonaland Country Districts in the Logan Cup. He drifted out of the game at around the same time his brother was playing his final games for the national side.
