Sri Lanka v Bangladesh

At R

15-Apr-2003
At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, August 7. Sri Lanka won by 58 runs. Toss: Bangladesh. International debut: P. W. Gunaratne.
A small crowd of schoolchildren and sponsors' guests saw Sri Lanka score the highest total of this series - 258. While Jayasuriya rested, de Silva opened with Atapattu, and escaped being run out twice on his way to 46. But Sri Lanka were only 115 for four by the 27th over, when Arnold and Dilshan launched a century partnership. Bangladesh were pushed on to the back foot from the start when Gunaratne and Lakshitha grabbed early wickets. Habibul Bashar and Khaled Masud raised them to 113, but did it slowly, and 101 from the last ten overs was far too tall a task. Muralitharan wrapped up a clean sweep for Sri Lanka with three wickets, including Habibul for 52.
Man of the Match: R. P. Arnold.
Man of the Series: Khaled Masud.
