Bangladesh followed their Test triumph with their maiden one-day series win. They did it in style and, against the pattern of the series, batting second. They also fielded three left-arm spinners, who collected five vital wickets between them. In a virtual replay of their capitulation two days earlier, Zimbabwe collapsed from 139 for two, losing eight for 59. A modest total of 198 looked even smaller once Aftab Ahmed came in. Some audacious shots brought up his fifty in 33 balls, with one over from Chigumbura plundered for 24; Mohammad Rafique, promoted to open, joined in the fun by slamming four sixes, and their breathtaking partnership of 150 in 22 overs set up victory with 17 overs to spare. This was the last cricket international at the Bangabandhu Stadium, which had hosted the inaugural home Tests of both Pakistan and Bangladesh, before the pitch was dug up to be taken over by the footballers, with the cricketers moving to a new ground at Mirpur.
