Bangladesh v Zimbabwe

At Chittagong, November 23

15-Apr-2003
At Chittagong, November 23. Zimbabwe won by five wickets. Toss: Zimbabwe. International debuts: Fahim Muntasir, Tushar Imran.
After losing his first toss as Bangladesh captain, Khaled Masud saw his top order fall apart. Friend and Brent exploited the morning moisture to claim three wickets each. Bangladesh were tottering at 59 for five when Masud joined Habibul Bashar to add 50; after Habibul went, Masud fought on, aided by the tail, but a total of 156 looked far too small to worry Zimbabwe. Then Mashrafe bin Mortaza, in his first one-day international, thrilled the home crowd by reducing the tourists to a precarious 20 for three in nine overs: he dismissed both Flowers and ran out Gripper. But a 105-run partnership between Carlisle and Wishart put Zimbabwe back on course, and they ended their 16-match losing streak in one-day internationals with nearly eight overs to spare.
Man of the Match: C. B. Wishart.
