Bangladesh v West Indies

At Dhaka, December 2, 2002 (day/night)

15-Apr-2004
At Dhaka, December 2, 2002 (day/night). West Indies won by 84 runs. Toss: West Indies. One-day international debut: Ehsanul Haque.
West Indies struggled to 77 for two by the halfway mark on a wicket of low bounce that discouraged strokeplay. Manjurul Islam conceded only 20 in a single ten-over spell. But Samuels and Sarwan dug deep and gained momentum, adding 146. Sarwan, whose highest international score in 74 innings - 27 Tests and 27 one-day games - was 99 not out, reached a long-awaited century at a run a ball off the very last delivery, with a thick outside edge to the third-man boundary. His celebration was as spectacular as his batting. Drakes then bowled Al Sahariar with his first ball, struck twice more in his fifth over and finished with four in all. A 71-run stand between Khaled Masud and Naimur Rahman helped Bangladesh save face.
Man of the Match: R. R. Sarwan.
